Pavitra Jayaram, the well-known television actor who worked in both Kannada and Telugu entertainment industries, died in a car accident on Sunday.

The accident occurred in Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district in Divitpally when she was returning to Hyderabad from Bengaluru along with some members of her family. Hindustan Times reported.

The publication quoted Bhoothpur police as saying, “She died in a road accident at Divitipally in Mahbubnagar district at 1 am last night. She traveled from Bengaluru to Hyderabad.”

Here are 5 things you should know about the late television star:

1. Pavitra was born and brought up in Karnataka. TFP reports that she had a passion for acting since she was a child.

2. Before entering the television industry, Pavitra faced financial difficulties due to which she had to do odd jobs like that of a saleswoman, a housekeeper and a library assistant.

3. Jayaram’s career in the television industry started with the Kannada serial. Jokali. Later she also starred in other prominent TV shows like Robot family And Galipata.

4. The actress made her foray into the Telugu industry with the soap opera Nine Pelladatha. However, it was the show Trinayaniin which she played the character Thilottama, which made her a household name.

5. Apart from her television work, Pavitra has appeared in Kannada films Melobba Mayavi And Manjariand the Telugu film BucchiNaidu Kandriga.

6. She was married to actor Chandrakanth, who shared a story on Instagram after her death saying, “My Pavi is no more.”

Chandrakanth was also in the car when the accident occurred. He and some of his family members suffered minor injuries.
