MacDonnell Remote Arrest: Police Respond to Firearms Incident

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in connection with a firearms incident in a remote community in MacDonnell.

On Friday, May 10, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., police received reports that a 39-year-old man had allegedly discharged a firearm in a remote community in MacDonnell. The perpetrator allegedly visited an apartment and got into a fight with another man before allegedly firing a gun into the air. He allegedly drove recklessly around the scene before fleeing.

The police were on site and arrested the perpetrator. He is charged with dangerous discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and recklessly endangering serious harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.

The weapon has not been found and police are still investigating.
