2 dead after car crashes into tree at high speed in Kent

Two people have died after a speeding car crashed into a tree in Kent on Saturday evening.

Kent police said several witnesses called 911 to report that a speeding vehicle had crashed into a tree and was on fire. Witnesses also reported that there were people in the vehicle and their attempts to remove them were unsuccessful.

Kent patrol officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of 272nd Street for a single-vehicle accident at 7:40 p.m

When officers arrived, they found a white sedan completely engulfed in flames. Police said the two people inside were already dead.

Kent Police’s Traffic Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of death and the identities of the vehicle’s occupants.
