1 arrested, 2 hospitalized after car crash, shooting in Adair Co.

A man was arrested after he was in a car accident in Adair County Saturday morning and then allegedly shot the other driver, according to Kentucky State Police.

According to a release from KSP, 50-year-old Gregory Willis of Columbia and 46-year-old Mark Hatcher of Columbia were in a car accident on KY 704 around 7:55 a.m. After the accident, Willis allegedly shot Hatcher.

According to KSP, Willis fled the scene before police arrived, but was arrested a short time later around 1:56 p.m. when officers located him in a wooded area off Paul Frankum Road in Adair County. KSP says he was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree assault.

A passenger in Hatcher’s car, 23-year-old William Freese of Columbia, was also injured in the accident.

Hatcher and Freese were both hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the release said.
