Man and dog found dead after apartment fire in Palm Beach Gardens

One person was found dead Friday after a fire filled a Palm Beach Gardens apartment with heavy smoke and flames, the city’s fire department reported.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the Oaks sundeck around 1 p.m. and learned there may have been a person inside, said Cory Bessette, assistant chief of the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department.

The emergency services managed to quickly get inside and bring the flames under control, he continued.

According to the fire department, the person’s body was found at the scene of the accident along with the body of a dog. The name of the deceased person has not been released.

No information was given about the cause of the fire. Bassette noted that the state fire department has taken over the investigation, as is typical in cases like these.
