Atlanta Braves get positive injury report from starting pitcher

The Atlanta Braves have a major health chance. All-Star starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez’s MRI came back positive, according to a report from the AJC’s Justin Toscano.

“Reynaldo Lopez’s MRI is good,” Toscano wrote on X. “He’s day to day. The Braves haven’t even put him on injured reserve. Brian Snitker said he doesn’t think the Braves will neutralize him.”

So it seems very promising that Lopez can make his next scheduled start, or at least miss just one turn in the rotation without an extended absence.

It took a lot longer than expected to get the news, but it has arrived and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

With all the injuries the Braves have had, even in the last week, this is a huge relief. They won’t have to make any hasty decisions before the trade deadline or worry about who will be available in Triple-A at the right time to take the mound in his place.

That doesn’t mean they won’t make a move by the deadline, they will anyway. might be looking for an arm after all. However, the addition would be to strengthen the rotation rather than replace a key arm.

So they get some good news regarding Lopez, along with the recent news that Max Fried could also be returning soon – who is eligible to be activated on Friday.

Barring a trade at the deadline, the rotation should look something like this when everyone is back and healthy:

Senior Startup Potential for Tuesday

Braves pitcher Bryce Elder appears to be the starter for Tuesday’s game in Milwaukee against the Brewers.

Elder was reportedly with the club and working on the pitch ahead of Monday night’s game.

He was scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. However, he was scratched leading to speculation he would return to Atlanta to help out the injured rotation.
