Man killed after shooting in Old 4th Ward

Officers found a man with serious gunshot wounds in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. Despite officers’ life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene, Atlanta police said.

Officers were called to 480 John Wesley Dobbs Avenue NE shortly after 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports that a person had been shot, police said. The victim was found in a busy area, just blocks from popular attractions like the Jackson Street Bridge, the Freedom Park Trail and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park.

Police have released few details about the incident. The identity of the 33-year-old victim has not been released and police have not said whether a suspect has been identified. No one has been taken into custody.
