Anderson police arrest man accused of injuring two people in February shooting

ANDERSON, Ind. – An Anderson man has been arrested for his alleged role in a February shooting that left both a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman injured.

According to Anderson police, 29-year-old Shawn Robert Gardner was arrested on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of criminal mischief with a deadly weapon.

In February, a warrant was issued for Gardner’s arrest after officers were called to the scene of a double shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of Madison Avenue. APD confirmed at the time that one of the victims had been shot in the hand, while the other suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The man’s condition was initially listed as “serious,” while the female victim was taken to an area hospital with minor but non-life-threatening injuries. Both victims were later released from the care of area hospitals on Feb. 28, APD said.

According to APD, investigators quickly identified Gardner as a likely suspect and began investigating his whereabouts. After a brief standoff, detectives were able to arrest Gardner on Tuesday in the 1600 block of West 10th Street, APD said.
