According to the prosecutor’s office, on February 12, 2023, McBroom intentionally fired multiple shots at 21-year-old Jorge Garcia Leon while he was inside Club Marcella. Garcia Leon died at the scene, a 49-year-old man and a 59-year-old man were injured and taken to ECMC.

McBroom faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on September 9. He remains held without bail.

“This is a completely senseless and violent crime. The defendant brought an illegal weapon into a nightclub and then deliberately fired multiple shots at the victims after a minor altercation. I take a strong stance on gun violence, which is why no sentence reduction was offered in this case. I hope that Jorge Garcia Leon’s family and the two survivors will feel that justice has been served by pleading guilty to all of the defendant’s charges.”
