Retired San Juan County deputy arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse

MONTICELLO, Utah – A former Utah police officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse in alleged crimes that occurred more than 20 years ago.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that it had arrested Monticello resident Grayson W. Redd, 74, a retired police deputy.

Officials said Redd’s arrest came after he committed “recently disclosed criminal conduct dating back at least two decades.” He is suspected of rape of a child and sexual abuse “of both children and minors.”

Further details were not immediately available, but the sheriff’s office urged any victims of abuse by Redd to contact the county’s Victim Advocacy Office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 435-587-2237.
