Motorcyclist allegedly fatally injured while fleeing from police in Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Arkansas – A motorcyclist was killed after a police chase that ended in an accident early Sunday morning.

The pursuit began around 1 a.m. when a Texarkana, Arkansas, police officer attempted to stop three motorcyclists in the 3600 block of Arkansas Boulevard, but the riders immediately fled, according to a police report.

Information on the reasons for the blocking was not initially available.

“As one of the motorcycles entered the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Arkansas Boulevard, it collided with a passenger vehicle that was not involved in the pursuit,” the report said.

The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and later died in the local hospital.

The other motorcyclists fled the scene of the accident.

The driver of the car suffered minor cuts and bruises and was treated on site by emergency services.

No further information was available.

The accident is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
