Carmen Gat’s brother told Israeli broadcaster Ynet that he would not accompany Netanyahu on his trip to Washington DC because the prime minister was blocking progress on a US-proposed ceasefire agreement.

“Netanyahu invited me on the flight and at first I thought it could help, we could make a difference,” Alon Gat told Ynet.

“I thought he would announce on the plane that he was going to sign the contract. But as the deadline approached, we realized that was not going to happen. Instead, the opposite is happening – he is hindering progress and not making decisions.”

According to Israeli media, the families of several prisoners will accompany Netanyahu on his trip to Washington DC, where the Israeli prime minister is expected to address the US Congress.
