Police from three communities in Macomb and Oakland counties worked together Saturday night to hold up traffic at major intersections while emergency responders from Warren transported a man who had attempted suicide to a hospital.

In a news release, Warren police said the 56-year-old man, who suffered a “significant” cut to his neck, is still undergoing surgery but is expected to survive.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. when Warren police were dispatched to assist the Warren Fire Department in transporting a critically injured man to an area hospital. Police had received a call from a woman in the 25000 block of Cunningham Avenue, near 10 Mile and Ryan streets.

When officers arrived at the home, they found an injured man lying on the ground with a cut on his neck. Moments later, firefighters arrived and began to provide medical attention to the injured man before placing him on a stretcher to be taken to a hospital.
