Atlanta FPSO production start-up could be delayed

Oil and gas company Enauta has completed the anchoring of the Atlanta floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit in a field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil. However, the start of production of the unit could be delayed due to strikes announced by civil servants of public institutions.

In June, Enauta completed the anchoring operations of the Atlanta FPSO on the Atlanta field. In early July, the first production well and all its connections to the service lines were completed.

The connection of the second production well, which would allow the start of production on the new platform, will be concluded in the coming weeks, according to the operational schedule for the installation of the complete development system.

However, strikes announced by regulatory agency officials could impact the production start-up schedule, according to Enauta.

Regardless, the connection of the remaining four production wells will follow the initial project schedule accordingly, Enauta added.

Given the uncertainty over the timing of the start-up of operations of the Atlanta FPSO, the Company has elected to postpone the return to production of the early system of the Petrojarl FPSO for the next two weeks, including maintenance items that allow operations to be extended until the fourth quarter of 2024.

At the end of May, Enauta completed the five-day maintenance operation on the Petrojarl I FPSO and brought it back online, resuming production in the field.

In mid-June, the company decided to stop production of the Petrojarl I FPSO to carry out additional maintenance-related modifications to certain equipment following inspections at the processing plant, specifying that the FPSO would be put into production later in the month.

Petrojarl I will be replaced by the larger capacity FPSO Atlanta.

Petrojarl I has a production capacity of 30,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 180,000, while the Atlanta FPSO has the capacity to process 50,000 barrels of oil per day, 140,000 barrels of water per day and store 1.6 million barrels of oil.

The FPSO Atlanta is chartered and operated by Malaysian company Yinson Production.
