Des Moines police investigate shooting after victim shows up at hospital

Des Moines police say they responded to the 2600 block of Douglas Avenue Wednesday evening to search a crime scene after a shooting victim made his own way to an area hospital. Authorities told KCCI that shell casings were found in the area and the adult male patient is presumed to survive. Des Moines police said they responded to the 2600 block of Douglas Avenue Wednesday evening to search for a crime scene after a shooting victim went to a nearby hospital on his own.

Authorities told KCCI that bullet casings were found in the area and that the adult male patient is expected to survive.

According to DMPD, “there is evidence that suggests an exchange of gunfire.” The incident remains under investigation.
