Missing swimmer found dead in Russian River, Sonoma County sheriff says

(KRON) — The swimmer rescue crews were searching for last week who was reported missing in the Russian River has been found dead, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) announced on social media Sunday. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Nasoni Tuitoga of Santa Rosa.

The victim was first reported missing after authorities received a call about a possible drowning in the Russian River near Villa Grande around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3.


The search continued Thursday morning, but according to SCSO, emergency responders found the swimmer dead on Friday afternoon.

The beach is located about a mile south of the census tract of Monte Rio. The circumstances of Tuitoga’s death are currently unknown.
