A person accused of stealing a car and crashing a patrol car in Bridgeport on Sunday was arrested after fleeing the scene of the accident.

According to a press release, Bridgeport Police received a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of ​​Frank Street and Madison Avenue around 1:50 p.m.

According to police, the stolen vehicle then collided with a Bridgeport police dog patrol car and then fled onto Route 8 North.

The officer suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” in the accident, the press release states.

Officials said police terminated their pursuit of the stolen vehicle at Exit 12.

The suspect and the vehicle were later arrested by police in Derby.
