Assam student stabs teacher to death for allegedly ‘abusing’ him in Sivsagar | Latest news from India

An 11th grade student allegedly stabbed his teacher to death with a knife in a classroom in Sivsagar district in the Indian state of Assam on Saturday.

According to police, the incident occurred in a classroom of a tutoring centre, allegedly after the teacher scolded the accused for his poor academic performance. The student stabbed the teacher after the rest of the professors left, police added.

“We reached the training centre after learning about a knife attack. According to preliminary information, a student stabbed his teacher. There is a lot of blood in the classroom. The knife was also found there,” police told news agency PTI.

The teacher was initially taken to hospital in critical condition. However, he was pronounced dead.

According to a classmate of the accused, the teacher had scolded the accused earlier in the day over a problem, after which he left the centre. When the student returned after some time, the teacher again spoke to him, PTI reported. During this, the student attacked the victim with a knife.

The accused, a minor, was taken to the local police station in Sivsagar.

“We have arrested the student. We do not yet know what led to the incident. We are in the process of collecting the surveillance camera footage,” police said.

Further investigations are ongoing.

Bihar teacher stabbed to death by stalker

In another incident, a 40-year-old teacher was allegedly stabbed to death by a stalker on her way to school in Katihar district of Bihar in May and her body was burnt to destroy the evidence. The incident took place near the victim’s house in Pakariya Lakshmipur, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pranpur police.

According to locals, the teacher, who worked at Pakarhiya Primary School, was attacked by a man with a knife and her throat was slit soon after she went to school. She was later taken to Pranpur Public Health Centre (PHC) where the doctor declared her dead.
