Gillian Anderson: Perth lawyer suspended for nine months for inappropriate relationship with family court judge

A Perth lawyer has been banned for nine months after an inappropriate relationship with a now-retired family court judge was uncovered – which included sharing “brief kisses” and hundreds of personal text messages.

The exceptionally close ties between barrister Gillian Anderson and retired WA Family Court judge John Walters had already led to the Supreme Court throwing out a ruling in one of Australia’s longest-running divorce disputes.
