Woman dead, two adults and 6-year-old injured after July 4 accident in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a July 4 car crash that left one woman dead and three people, including a six-year-old girl, injured.

According to the agency, at about 3:16 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, a car was traveling eastbound on Pocahontas Parkway when it left the left side of the road, struck a railing, overturned and came to a stop in the westbound lane.


The passenger, 53-year-old Shirley M. Bain of North Chesterfield, was ejected from the vehicle and later died after being taken to a nearby hospital. The driver, 52-year-old Christopher L. Bain, suffered serious injuries. Both were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to state police.

Two other passengers, 24-year-old Courtney R. O’Neill and a six-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries.

The Virginia State Police are still investigating the incident.
