Sabres conclude development camp with annual 3v3 tournament

Team Perreault defeated Team Robert 5-0 in the championship game to win the 3-on-3 tournament trophy at the Sabres development camp.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres development camp wrapped up Thursday morning with about 1,200 fans at LECOM Harborcenter to watch some of the organization’s newest prospects take the ice in Buffalo blue and gold.

“It was a fun week,” said Sabres No. 1 overall draft pick Konsta Helenius. “There were a lot of good players, so yeah, it was fun to be out there and see the players.”

“It was pretty early, too,” third-round pick Brodie Ziemer said. “I think we started at 9:15 and it was packed, so it was awesome. You feel really welcomed.”

The Sabres’ 14th overall pick in the NHL Draft, Konsta Helenius scored three goals in three games at the 3v3 tournament. One of his three goals this morning came in a shootout where he helped his team reach the championship game.

“I just thought forehand, backhand, but it was a really good situation, so I just made another forehand and it was a nice goal,” Helenius said.

Helenius and Team Perreault won all three of their games, including the championship game against Team Robert to take home the 3-on-3 tournament trophy.

The Sabres’ hopes will now turn to the Prospects Challenge, which will take place in early September at LECOM Harborcenter.
