Woman dead after shooting in Baton Rouge, police investigating

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge police are investigating after a woman was shot in Baton Rouge.

According to police, officers were called to the 1300 block of North Cristy Drive around 8:46 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, and found a female victim lying on the ground inside a home.

Police identified the victim as Shelia Mitchell, 50. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

In this case, neither motive nor suspects have been identified.
