Funeral services are approaching for a former Emporia resident who was killed in Wichita last weekend.

Jaz Brooks, 28, was killed in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Central and McLean early Sunday. Brooks was pronounced dead after being found trapped in a car. The driver was treated at the scene.

Wichita police said a truck struck the car on the passenger side and fled the scene. However, the driver, 18-year-old Peyton Allart, was arrested and booked on suspicion of failure to stop in an accident resulting in death. Official charges have not been posted on the Kansas District Court public access portal.
