Search continues in Western New York for missing plane door

An airplane door fell from the sky in Western New York, and people are still looking for it.

The emergency involving the plane’s fallen door occurred in February 2024; however, there have been no reports of the plane’s missing door being discovered. Police began their search for a fallen plane door a few months ago, but needed help to find it.

A call was made through the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and they contacted the Cheektowaga Police Department about the gate.

The plane made an emergency landing 15 minutes before this call, and everyone – the pilot and the passenger of the private plane – landed safely. However, the plane door is still there, and they don’t know where.

But they have an idea.

Authorities have reason to believe the plane’s gate is somewhere in the Cheektowaga neighborhood, possibly near Stiglmeier Park or Raymond Park. Police searched the area but were unable to find the door, so active searches were called off.

However, you still have a chance to find the plane door. If you find anything in these areas that looks like a missing private plane door, please report the information to the FAA so they can continue their investigation into how the incident occurred and why the door fell from the plane.
