Who is Suraj Revanna? All about Prajwal Revanna’s brother who is accused of sexually harassing a JD(S) worker

Suraj Revanna is a leading politician of the Janata Dal (secular party), doctor and brother of suspended MP Prajwal Revanna, who himself was arrested on charges of sexually abusing several women.

Suraj is the eighth member of the Gowda family to enter politics.

Suraj, 36, was arrested on Sunday for “unnatural offences”. He is the son of Holenarasipur MP HD Revanna and the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

He was arrested in connection with a case in which a 27-year-old man had filed a police complaint that Suraj Revanna had sexually assaulted him at his farm in Ghannikada on June 16. Suraj then claimed that the man had filed a false complaint against him to extort Rs 50 million from him.

Suraj Revanna’s case has now been handed over to the CID for further investigation.

Her father HD Revanna and mother Bhavani are out on bail on charges of kidnapping and holding an alleged victim of sexual assault by her son Prajwal.

HD Revanna on Sunday described the allegations against his son as a “conspiracy” and said he had faith in God and the judiciary. He refused to react to anything and said he would tell everything when the time came.
