One dead after tax protests on Thursday in Kenya’s capital

According to Amnesty International, a demonstrator was killed during mass protests against planned tax increases in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

“A protester was shot in the CBD (central business district) yesterday while trying to flee from police,” Amnesty International Kenya spokesman Mathias Kinyoda told AFP, while the independent police watchdog confirmed that one man had died and an investigation had been launched.
