Davenport woman pleads guilty to sexual abuse of a minor

On Tuesday, a 29-year-old Davenport woman pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor after she and a 44-year-old man were previously charged in the incidents.

Garrison Gardner, Rebecca Anderson (Scott County Jail)

Rebecca Anderson, whose address was previously listed as Princeton, pleaded guilty to charges including incest, lascivious acts with a child, endangering a child and false imprisonment during a hearing in Scott County Court.

In December 2023, Garrison Gardner of Princeton pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child, court records show, and a jury trial against him is scheduled for July 22 in Scott County District Court.

In arrest affidavits, police allege Gardner sexually abused a child. The incidents began “in Colorado and continued in Princeton.” The incidents occurred three to four times a week in Princeton between October 2022 and July 2023, according to the affidavits.

Law enforcement also alleges that Gardner “knowingly subjected the minor to excessive punishments,” including locking him in a bedroom for several hours or days, beating him with a black leather belt, standing in a corner for long periods of time and depriving the child of food, according to arrest affidavits.

In arrest affidavits, police allege that Anderson sexually abused a child in Princeton between October 2022 and July 2023, more than once, possibly up to four times.

Anderson, who is being held in the Scott County Jail on $202,000 bail, is scheduled to be sentenced in Scott County Court on Oct. 11. She has waived her right to a jury trial.

Gardner is being held in the Scott County Jail on a total of $200,000 cash bail.
