Firefighter killed by explosion while fighting fire in Palmdale

A Los Angeles County firefighter was killed in a vehicle explosion while fighting a fire in Palmdale on Friday.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near the 6500 block of East Avenue, fire officials said.


Sky5’s videos from the scene of the accident showed a large tractor with flames next to its engine and thick smoke rising from the vehicle.

A body covered by an American flag was found on a mound of earth near the smoking vehicle.

According to reports, a second firefighter was also injured. The original cause of the fire is unknown.

The fire brigade is already on site and is still working to extinguish the smoking tractor.

The identity of the firefighter has not yet been released.
