Former president Jimmy Carter remains in palliative care, with no significant change in his health since his arrival nearly 16 months ago, according to his grandson, Jason Carter. Speaking to an audience at the Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Forum in Georgia, Jason also expressed gratitude to the former president’s supporters who were concerned about his health and praying for him.

Jason Carter, the eldest Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter‘s 22 grandchildren recently spoke to Southern Living magazine. He revealed that the 99-year-old former president is “experiencing the world as best he can while continuing this process.”

“God had other plans,” said Jason Carter, reflecting on his grandfather’s surprisingly prolonged survival since beginning hospice care in February 2023. Rosalynn Carter, his wife of 77 years, died in November 2023.
