Jammu- Two minor girls were allegedly raped by two men in a forest area in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

Police identified the accused as Dalip Kumar and Ravinder Kumar, both residents of Panchound.

According to police, the girls, aged 16 and 17, were on their way home from a school picnic when they were approached by the accused, who is alleged to have raped them in a forest on Friday evening, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said the girls had been lying unconscious in the woods all night and were rescued by police on Saturday morning following information.

The girls have been taken to a hospital in Ramnagar for treatment, he said, adding that a case has been registered at the local police station under relevant sections of the law and further investigation is underway.

The spokesman said the accused fled after committing the crime, but was then arrested by special police teams that were dispersed in different directions.
