Chase at over 160 km/h ends with man’s arrest

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department have arrested a man for car theft and eluding police.

The man was 33-year-old Jacob Wisdom.

The WFPD received a report of a stolen vehicle from TNT Auto on Sunday evening, June 2nd.

The next day, officers were taking a break at the QT gas station in Wichita Falls when they noticed a vehicle on Iowa Park Road that matched the theft report. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle drove onto Iowa Park Road to elude officers. A chase ensued, with the stolen vehicle reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

The stolen vehicle drove through the P3 Restaurant parking lot and northbound on Sheppard Access Road before crashing in a U-turn lane on Sheppard Access Road.

After the crash, the driver, identified as Wisdom, got out of the car and ran on foot to nearby railroad tracks, where officers arrested him on charges of auto theft and fleeing police in a car. Police suspect the items in the car were also stolen, but have not announced whether Wisdom will face additional charges.
