A British man of Indian descent was sentenced to over 17 years in prison by a court here on Monday after he was found guilty along with five others of repeatedly raping two schoolgirls over a period of six years.
Vikram Singh, 46, is one of six men involved in a child sex ring in Buckinghamshire, southeast England, who were convicted of sexually abusing the two girls.
The Old Bailey court was told that the abuse in Aylesbury had continued for years and included crimes such as rape and child prostitution.
The men from Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and Bradford are said to have committed the crimes between 2006 and 2012.
Singh was convicted of four counts of rape and intentional administration of a substance.
Singh received 17.5 years in prison, while his accomplices Asif Hussain (33) was sentenced to 13.5 years for three counts of rape; Arshad Jani (33) to 13 years for rape and conspiracy to rape; Mohammed Imran (38) to 19.5 years for rape; Akbari Khan (36) to 16 years for two counts of rape and Taimoor Khan (29) to three years for sexual conduct with a child.
The crimes, in which all defendants denied involvement, took place in cars, vans, flats and sometimes the girls’ homes in Aylesbury, the trial heard. In total, 11 defendants were on trial.
Four were acquitted of any wrongdoing, while the jury was unable to reach a verdict against one of the men.
The court heard statements from both victims, who came from difficult backgrounds and had befriended the men who gave them alcohol, DVDs, food and occasionally drugs.
One of the girls – known as A – was passed around for sex between 60 Asian men when she was 12 or 13 and had been taught that this was normal behaviour, the jury was told.
The girls began to believe that the men – some of whom were married and had children – were their friends.
