BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – The first week of May continues to bring more rain to the region. Concerns about flooding are increasing as some areas have already received more than 3 inches of rain this month. Flooding was reported in Mannington yesterday after 1.71 inches of rain fell in the afternoon. With more rain expected this evening and the possibility of strong to severe storms, an initial weather alert event has been declared with a major risk of flooding across the region. We expect the line of storms to cross overnight, with the timing expected to be between midnight and around 5/6am. Rainfall totals for this system alone are trending toward about an inch around the area tonight. Further rainfall is expected later in the week and the risk of flooding remains at least until Thursday. Michael Moranelli has the details in your First Alert Forecast.
