Gable Steveson signs with Buffalo Bills after WWE release

Gable Steveson joined WWE a few years ago and had been training in dark matches, facing uncertainty over his status on WWE television. However, earlier this month he was released by WWE. Following his WWE release, it appears he signed with the Buffalo Bills.

Gable Steveson’s exit from WWE was long overdue for many fans, given his difficulty connecting with audiences despite his previous expression of satisfaction with his role just a month ago.

As previously reported, Gable Steveson had met with the Buffalo Bills and other NFL teams after his WWE release. According to ESPN, Steveson is making the jump to the NFL by signing with the Buffalo Bills, his agent Carter Chow told ESPN.

Steveson signs a standard three-year rookie contract and aims to join Bob Hayes as the only athletes to win both a Super Bowl ring and an Olympic gold medal. Although he acknowledges the steep learning curve ahead, Steveson is excited about the opportunity.

“I have been fortunate to compete at the highest level of competition in my sport, but I am looking forward to the challenge of seeing how my wrestling skills can translate to football,” Steveson said. “I’m grateful to Coach (Sean) McDermott, (general manager) Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills organization for giving me this opportunity.”

It was noted that Gable Steveson should play on the defensive line. Regardless, Steveson is clearly focused on his new career following his release from WWE and we’ll have to see if he finds more success in the NFL.
