Declyn Lauper, son of pop icon Cyndi Lauper, is once again in serious legal trouble.

An anonymous woman has filed a civil lawsuit against Declyn, also known as Dex, accusing him of sexual assault that allegedly occurred four years ago.

The lawsuit, which was obtained by the Mirror, alleges that the 26-year-old “negligently, wantonly, recklessly, intentionally and knowingly attempted and attempted to sexually assault and abuse the plaintiff,” citing a violation of the New York City Victims of Gender-Based Violence Protection Act.

This is not the first time Lauper’s son has been in trouble with the law. Declyn, the singer of Girls Just Want To Have Fun and her husband David Thornton, were arrested earlier this year in connection with a shooting in New York.

In 2022, he was also taken into police custody when he was found in a stolen car.

Now Declyn is facing perhaps the most serious accusation she has ever made. The accuser claims that after going to Declan’s apartment, he took her phone, held her down and tried to force her to perform sexual acts.

The plaintiff “repeatedly asked Mr. Lauper to let her get up because he was too strong, but he refused,” the lawsuit continues.

It goes on to say that Declyn allegedly “forcefully pressed his genitals into Jane Doe’s mouth while Jane Doe warned him that she would bite him” and stuck her teeth in, the lawsuit states.

She further claims that after the physical attack, he abused her verbally and with swear words.

Declyn then attempted to apologise while she waited for a car to pick her up. Despite his attempts to contact her later, the plaintiff never saw him again.

“The emotional and psychological damage the attack has left on Jane Doe cannot be overstated. It is profound and lasting,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiff also expressed her fear and suffering to the New York Post: “After the attack, I panicked. I felt like my life was really in danger at that point.”

The plaintiff is a 28-year-old insurance broker who, at the time of the attack, had been dating Declyn for about nine months, beginning in February 2020, according to the Post.

She is seeking damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, humiliation and more, as well as punitive damages to deter Declyn from future misconduct.

Currently, Declyn is also facing a lawsuit from his landlord for a rent-controlled apartment in New York. Declyn’s landlord has reportedly listed numerous alleged violations of the lease, including aggressive yelling and threats of physical harm coming from Declyn’s apartment, as well as a significant amount of unpaid rent.

The landlord claims that Declyn continued to live in the apartment after his lease expired and is demanding that he, along with the other residents, be evicted.
