First weather warning day for strong to severe storms

The First Alert Weather team declares today as First Alert Weather Day.

Conditions are favorable for severe storm development in the Denver metropolitan area and eastern Plains this afternoon and evening, with the most likely timing being between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the metropolitan area and between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for the Plains.

All the ingredients for storms are present this afternoon and evening. Some, but not all, of these storms will be severe. Hailstones larger than 1 inch and wind gusts near 60 mph may accompany some (but not all) storms. Heavy rain and localized flooding are possible. The threat of tornadoes is low, but not zero.
