Woman’s death triggers murder investigation in Los Angeles County

A murder investigation is underway after a woman was found with a fatal gunshot wound in southeast Los Angeles County overnight.

The incident was reported shortly before 11 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of South Holly Avenue in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Investigators found the victim, an adult woman, with at least one gunshot wound.

The woman’s death was determined at the scene, the sheriff’s department said.

No information has been released regarding one or more possible suspects.
