Severe weather warning day: Intermittent rain and heavy storms

11:00 PM TONIGHT. ALL GOOD. WE’D LIKE TO HAND THE FATE OVER TO JILL SWEAT, WHO IS HERE WITH THE CONFIRMED MOST ACCURATE FORECAST. MANY PEOPLE PROBABLY HAD SOME PLANS FOR THIS MEMORIAL DAY, BUT THEY MAY HAVE TO CHANGE THEM. YES, VERY SIMILAR TO THE LAST FEW DAYS, WE’VE BEEN WIPING OUT INTERMITTENTLY OF THUNDERSTORMS AND THAT WILL CONTINUE TODAY. BUT IT’S ALL GOING TO START UP PRETTY QUICKLY HERE ON MEMORIAL DAY TOMORROW. IT’S NICE AND CALM AS WE ARE LOOKING OVER DOWNTOWN WITH OUR ACTION CAM NOW, BUT JUST TO THE WEST OF US, HEAVY RAIN WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR. SOME OF YOU IN BEAVER COUNTY ARE ALREADY DEALING WITH ACTION THIS MORNING THAT IS ALSO SPREADING TOWARDS NEWCASTLE WHERE YOU CAN SEE A NUMBER OF LIGHTNING STRIKES AND ALSO PROPER DROPS FLYING OVER ELLWOOD CITY. IF YOU LOOK BACK TOWARDS EAST LIVERPOOL FROM BEAVER, THIS IS THE HEAVIEST RAIN ON TIME. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT HEAVY BUT CERTAINLY THEY WILL BE DEALING WITH THE HEAVY RAINFALL, THUNDER, LIGHTNING, POSSIBLY SOME GUSTS AND EVEN SOME PEA SIZED HAIL, ESPECIALLY WITH THIS CELL MOVING AROUND SOUTH OF BEAVER. In the next 5 to 10 minutes they will be heading toward Aliquippa. The line continues through parts of the Northern Panhandle, West Virginia. Some of this activity is spreading toward Washington, Waynesburg not quite as much. There will be lightning on the southern end but the day will certainly start off unsettled. We will see more waves of rain throughout the day but there will be a break later in the morning and early afternoon. WINDY BETWEEN THESE ROUNDS OF RAIN, TEMPERATURES WILL NOT BE COMPLETELY AS WARM AS YESTERDAY OR EVEN SATURDAY AS WE WILL BE ABOVE 77F. THE SEVERE WEATHER WARNING IS LATER THIS AFTERNOON. SOME ONE-TIME, UNITED TO SPOKEN SEVERE STORMS ARE EXPECTED AGAIN TODAY. VERY SIMILAR TO THE LAST FEW ROUNDS, SOME DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAIL POSSIBLE. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING FROM A THUNDERSTORM WILL OF COURSE BRING YOU INTO THE HOUSES, AND SOME HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE MORE FLOODING. SO LET’S GO. The morning rain should move away to the north and east around 10:00 as we approach the 9th hour. So good timing for some of the parades. Memorial services will be held a little later this morning across Western Pennsylvania. It’s not all over here yet, either. Maybe a few rays of sunshine. A little windy, the atmosphere is really starting to stir up for a cold front approaching late afternoon into the evening hours. There we could trigger some strong and severe thunderstorms. Then after dark the weather will slowly settle down. BUT THE PATTERN WILL REMAIN A LITTLE UNSETTLE AS WE MOVE THROUGH THESE LAST DAYS OF MAY. MORE SPOTATED RAIN IS COMING TO US ON TUESDAY, POSSIBLY SOME HEAVIER, MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN AS WE START WEDNESDAY. SO THAT’S GOING TO BE A HEAVY IMPACT DAY FOR US. AND WE HAVE AT LEAST A DAILY CHANCE OF RAIN AS WE EXEMPT MAY AND LOOK TOWARDS THE EARLY DAYS OF JUNE AS WE APPROACH NEXT WEEKEND. SO THIS MEMORIAL DAY, THERE MAY BE PERIODS OF RAIN, ESPECIALLY THIS MORNING AND THEN AGAIN LATER IN THE AFTERNOON, THEN THERE IS A HAZARD OF SEVERE TO SEVERE. 78. OUR HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WILL BE WINDY, WITH SOME GUSTS, EXCEPT THUNDERSTORMS THAT COULD GET CLOSE TO 30 MPH. STORMS SHOULD STOP AROUND 10 PM, PARTLY CLOUDY, STILL WINDY TODAY, SO NO NEED TO BE SO WORRIED ABOUT FOG TOMORROW. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO COOL DOWN TO 73, WITH SPOKEN SHOWERS IN THE MORNING AGAIN. RAIN COULD AFFECT THINGS ON WEDNESDAY. JUST A HIGH OF 65. THEN WE START TO WARM IT UP AGAIN. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TO THE 70S AGAIN. EVEN APPROACHING 80 DEGREES. AS NEXT WEEKEND COMES, THINGS WILL
