Woman arrested after attack on man in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Providence police have arrested a woman following an alleged attack on Federal Hill that reportedly involved a cinder block and high heels.

According to a city of Providence spokesman, police were called to the 200 block of Atwells Avenue because a person was found bleeding from the head.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim disoriented and did not know who had attacked him.

Surveillance video provided to police by Opa Restaurant captured a woman, later identified as 31-year-old Ashley Soto Morales, engaging in a verbal argument with the victim as he attempted to back out of a parking space.

At some point during the altercation, two unknown men began hitting the victim on the head.

Investigators later said: “Morales then struck the victim on the head with her high heel and hit him in the face with a cement block.”

The victim then appeared to lose consciousness and had injuries to his head and face.

Morales was identified and arrested by a passerby.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

This incident is being investigated by the Providence Police Department (BCI) and detectives.
