The Buffalo Bills’ two new WRs reveal what makes Josh Allen so likable

They both played with several NFL quarterbacks and had their share of success as well.

Veterans Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Chase Claypool haven’t been with the Buffalo Bills for over a month, but they already seem comfortable in their new surroundings and that starts with the team’s quarterback. There appears to be early chemistry between field general Josh Allen and the team’s two new receivers, who will compete for a spot in a crowded room.

“Josh Allen, he’s a really cool guy,” Claypool said during a media scrum during OTAs. “Sometimes very serious but also goofy, so it’s nice. You can lock in, dial a number, and then laugh with him. It’s really great.”

Claypool, a former second-round pick, is the ultimate low-risk, potentially high-reward signing. By adding him after the draft, Buffalo will see if Claypool can rekindle the success he had scoring 11 touchdowns as a Steelers rookie in 2020.

Shortly after signing Claypool, the Bills agreed to terms with Valdes-Scantling, bringing in another big target with deep ball ability. He reportedly decided to sign with Buffalo after an enjoyable time as a guest at Allen’s residence.

“Josh is just super normal. That’s what’s most exciting,” said Tuesday at the press briefing in Orchard Park. “Obviously, when you’re one of the best quarterbacks in the league, some guys have an ego. Every quarterback I played with didn’t have one. So, that was the most exciting thing to have a guy, to have that caliber, just be a normal guy.”

Valdes-Scantling, a former fifth-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers, began his NFL career catching passes from four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers before moving on to Kansas City, where he won back-to-back Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes .
