Police say a man posed as a police officer during a robbery in Woodbridge

The victim told police that the man showed him a badge and identified himself as a police officer before demanding to show his identification.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – A man was reportedly robbed by a suspect posing as a police officer in Woodbridge on Saturday evening.

According to the Prince William County Police DepartmentThe robbery happened near Hillendale Drive and Dale Boulevard just before 5 p.m

When officers arrived, they learned that a 57-year-old man was driving in the area when another man got out of a white Nissan SUV and approached him. The victim told police that the man showed him a badge and identified himself as a police officer before demanding to show his identification.

The man reportedly grabbed the victim’s wallet, took out cash, gave it back to him and left.

No weapons were used and no injuries were reported.
