A Laurel man was killed in a car accident in Elkridge, according to Howard police

A 42-year-old man was killed in a car accident in Elkridge Friday afternoon, Howard County police said.

At approximately 6:42 p.m., a 2019 Honda CR-V left the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree in the 7100 block of Dorsey Run Road, police said.

Icaro Freire-Pina, 42, of Laurel, was the driver and sole occupant. Freire-Pina was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Howard County police are investigating whether he had a medical emergency before the collision.
