During the ongoing restricted voter registration exercise in Cape Coast North, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justice Agyemang, was the victim of a brutal attack and sustained cuts to his head.

A report by onuaonline.com said the attack on Agyemang was allegedly carried out by one Eric Sampson, known as Bullet, allegedly the bodyguard of Cape Coast North MP Samuel Kwamena Mintah.

According to reports, people who attempted to register at the center where the chaos broke out were allegedly prevented from doing so because of suspicions that they had been transported to the venue from other locations.

This led to a standoff between the MP’s entourage and members of the NPP.

The reports indicate that the cutlass used to injure the NPP man was at one point in the possession of the deputy’s bodyguard.

After the bloody incident, people in the area took the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Electoral Commission’s limited registration process, which began on May 7, aims to register eligible Ghanaians who have reached the age of 18 years to vote. The trial ends on May 27th.
