One dead and one injured after fire accident near 35th and Sweetwater Avenue

PHOENIX – One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a fiery accident Friday morning in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police said they were called to the area near 35th and Sweetwater Avenue around 6 a.m. for a reported accident.

When rescue workers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a power pole and was on fire.

A woman was found outside the vehicle and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

After the fire was extinguished, a second person was found in the vehicle. Her death was confirmed at the scene of the accident.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The cause of the crash is currently being investigated.

35th Avenue remains closed in this area while the investigation continues.
