WEATHER WARNING: Risk of strong to severe thunderstorms

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team has issued a weather advisory for the possibility of afternoon/evening thunderstorms on Monday that could be strong to severe.

A heat warning is in effect for the eastern counties of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin from Monday morning through Tuesday evening. The heat index will indicate a perceived temperature of around 100 degrees.


Monday will be sunny and cloudy, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the day. It will be hot and humid, with highs in the 90s and 95s, but the heat index will make it feel like it’s about 100 degrees.

Thunderstorms will be isolated late Monday, but if you have plans to spend time outdoors, have an indoor alternative ready.

Monday night will be mostly cloudy, showers/thunderstorms possible. Lows between 18 and 21 degrees.

The intense heat and humidity will continue on Tuesday, with highs between 35 and 40 degrees and a heat index indicating a perceived temperature of 38 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are again possible on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

The heat and humidity are expected to ease over the course of the week.
