Man killed in shooting in southwest Indy, IMPD says death investigation underway

INDIANAPOLIS – A man has died after a shooting in southwest Indy.

According to IMPD, officers responded to a report of a person shot at around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, and were dispatched to the 5700 block of West Ray Street, near West Washington Street and Interstate 465.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but police said he later succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives arrived at the scene to begin the investigation. IMPD stated that the incident is a death investigation and is working to learn more about the background to the shooting.
