Motorcyclist fatally injured in head-on collision in Little Cottonwood Canyon identified

The motorcyclist who died in a head-on collision in Little Cottonwood Canyon has been identified by authorities.

Salt Lake County Sheriff’s officials said 38-year-old Neil Munroe was killed instantly in the crash, which occurred just before 7:45 p.m. on Friday, July 12.

According to authorities, Munroe was traveling westbound on Little Cottonwood Canyon Road when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle on a curve and collided head-on with a vehicle traveling eastbound.

The accident resulted in the road being closed for hours near the Iron Blosam Hotel in Snowbird.

Deputies reported that the driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating with the investigation.

The agency’s Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Team is leading this investigation.
