Fatal car crash in Sussex County under investigation | Latest News

DELMAR, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead in Sussex County Friday evening.

According to police, on Friday, July 12, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Subaru Outback was traveling south on Providence Church Road, approaching the intersection with Delmar Road. At the same time, a Nissan Rogue was traveling west on Delmar Road, approaching the intersection with Providence Church Road.

According to DSP, the Subaru failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the westbound lane of Delmar Road, causing the left front of the Nissan to collide with the left front of the Subaru.

The driver of the Subaru, a 48-year-old man from Salisbury, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Delaware police said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His identification is not being released at this time.

The driver of the Nissan, a 40-year-old woman from Laurel, Delaware, and her three children suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police continue to investigate this incident.
