The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to make the public aware of a phone scam involving individuals posing as Sheriff’s Office deputies. In one of the most recent scam calls, individuals are posing as Sergeant Daniel Haydel and demanding cash or an electronic transfer of cash for the arrest.

Please don’t fall for this! Our agency will NEVER contact you asking for cash payment (e.g. GreenDot, CashApp, Venmo, PayPal) over the phone for citations, warrants, or traffic tickets. If you receive a call that sounds suspicious, HANG UP!!!

You can always call our main number (225) 621-8300 if you need to contact one of our offices.

Again, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office will never request payment over the phone. We advise our residents to be cautious when requesting payment over the phone for a call they did not make.
