FHP officers respond to accident in Calhoun County, 5th incident on State Rd 20

CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Florida Highway Patrol is urging drivers to use caution on State Road 20 after another accident occurred Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old Panama City woman was driving eastbound on State Road 20 near NW Harry G. Mcclellan Rd at 11 a.m. She did not notice another vehicle stopped in front of her, so she moved into the westbound lane, officials said.

As a result, she struck another vehicle traveling in the westbound lane, and the vehicle overturned on its right side on the north shoulder. FHP officials said the 31-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries.

FHP officials confirmed that the 36-year-old driver and passenger of the other vehicle suffered no injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS and the Blountstown Fire Department.

FHP Lt. Jason King said this is the fifth accident in the area since the two-fatal accident on Dec. 31, 2023. This brings the total number of accidents to two fatalities and three fatalities, according to a news release.
